Dr. KhanM. Akram Khan, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Muhammad Akram Khan has practiced cardiovascular medicine in McKinney, Texas since 1997. He completed his cardiac fellowship and Interventional Fellowship at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.

Dr. Khan is committed to the application of new technology and progressive techniques to enhance the care he provides to his patients. The Center for Preventive Medicine™- North Texas is a testament to his commitment to advanced preventive care and treatment.

He has served on the Medical Executive Committee for various hospitals and is on staff at Medical Center of McKinney, where he is Chief of Cardiology, Presbyterian Hospital of Allen where he has served as Chief of Medicine since 2003, the Medical Center of Plano, Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, and Texas Heart Hospital of the Southwest.

Dr. Khan also is dedicated to research and education. He is Director of North Dallas Research Associates and is the course director for the annual North Texas Cardiovascular Conference.

He is a member of the following organizations: Texas Medical Association, American Heart Association, International Society of Endovascular Specialists, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and a member of the Texas Medical Board Expert Physician Panel. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography & Interventions.

Dr NawazM Nazim Nawaz, MD, FACC

Dr. Nawaz has received most of his training in Texas. He graduated from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center after completing his Internal Medicine residency training. His sub-specialty training in invasive cardiology was from Texas A&M University .

Dr. Nawaz has also completed advance fellowship training in the field of Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology from one of the premiere cardiac transplant institutions in the Midwest, the University of Wisconsin . He will be one of the few UNOS certified cardiac transplant physician in North Texas. His training not only adds another segment to our invasive cardiology team, but also adds a new dimension to our practice utilizing the most advanced modalities to care for chronic and critically ill patients with congestive heart failure.

We are establishing a state of the art Heart Failure Clinic on our premises offering the latest care for this group of patients and also providing inpatient heart failure consultations. Dr.Nawaz has been widely published in the premiere cardiology journals, presenting in national cardiology meetings and has received the National Research Award (NRSA), an NIH sponsored training grant in Translational Cardiovascular Research.

Don HudsonDon Hudson
Director for Center Development

Don Hudson brings more than 30 years of management experience in health care and life sciences to his role as the Director for Center Development for The Center for Preventive Medicine® – North Texas. Most of his career has been in the healthcare arena, specifically in cardiovascular disease, stroke prevention, and Parkinson’s Disease, representing major pharmaceutical companies including DuPont and DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company, Innovex and Biovail Pharmaceuticals, a Canadian company.

Perhaps Don’s most challenging and rewarding job was the three months he served as Director of Operations of the North Texas Hurricane Distribution Center, in McKinney, Texas, following the devastation of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. One of the largest emergency action response ventures in the history of North Texas, Don coordinated more than 875 volunteers and 5,000 hurricane evacuees from fellow Gulf Coast states.

Don received his Bachelor of Science degree from Century University in Albuquerque, New Mexico and continued on to receive a Masters of Business Administration from Century University in 1983.

Rebecca DawsonRebecca Dawson, CMOM
Center Manager

Rebecca Dawson serves a dual role as the Center Manager of The Center for Preventive Medicine – North Texas and as Office Manager for Dr. Muhammad Akram Khan.

Rebecca is a Certified Medical Office Manager and has worked with Dr. Khan in a variety of capacities since he opened his practice in 1997.

Committed to prevention and exceeding client expectations, Rebecca is instrumental in the training and management of Center staff.

During your visit to the Center, Rebecca will serve as your personal concierge, escorting you throughout the day and explaining each test to be performed. This personalized attention, along with our state-of-the-art testing will ensure that you enjoy the ultimate preventive health experience.
